Printing Capabilities

It uses HP Thermal inkjet technology with 4-ink color (cyan, magenta, yellow, and pigment black) to print at a resolution of 1200 x 1200 DPI (dots per inch) in monochrome and 4800 x 1200 DPI in color.

Moreover, its printing speed is around 10 PPM (pages per minute) in monochrome and 7 PPM in color.

Its first print out time in black in white is around 16 seconds and 19 seconds in color.

Copying Capabilities

The HP Envy 5055 can copy at a speed of 8 PPM in monochrome and 4 PPM in color at a resolution of 600 x 300 DPI for both.

Moreover, the maximum enlargement range for a document is 400% while the maximum reduction is 25%.

As for the copying compatibility, it has 2-sided copy orientation change, ID card copy, and resize.

Scanning Capabilities

At 1200 x 1200 DPI resolution, the HP Envy 5055 uses 8-bit greyscale depth to scan with CIS element.


The HP Envy 5055’s paper tray can accommodate 100 sheets in its input tray and 25 in its output tray.

Furthermore, it can handle a wide variety of media sizes with the maximum being legal-sized documents that measure 8.5 x 14 inches and the minimum is 3 x 5 inches.

As for the weight, it can handle a minimum of 60 g/m2 and a maximum of 300 g/m2 –more than suitable for cardstock.

You can work with envelopes, glossy paper, light-weight paper, labels, matte paper, photo paper, recycled paper, and plain paper.

On top of that, the HP Envy 5055 can print borderless photos that measure 8.5 x 11.7 inches.

Add to that, its monthly duty cycle is 1,000 pages. However, the recommended cycle is 100 to 400 pages per month.

Ease of Use and Portability

The HP Envy 5055 is equipped with a 2.2-inch LCD touchscreen that enables the user to check their ongoing print jobs, ink levels, change the settings, and preview the media before they print it.

When it’s set up, it measures 17.5 x 5.0 x 22.2 inches and weighs around 11.9 pounds. Amply compact and lightweight.

Connectivity Options

The HP Envy 5055 gives you many connection options to enable you to print in whatever way is most convenient to you.

You can set up a wired connection with the USB 2.0 cable for standard printing or make use of the built-in WiFi for wireless connectivity.
